Habibullo Abdussamatov is not just “a scientist.”
Dr Habibullo Abdussamatov, astrophysicist, is head of the Russian segment of the International Space Station, and head of Space Research of the Sun Sector at the Pulkovo Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
I’m inclined to take his forecasts seriously.

ReplyDeleteThe last glacial period ended about 10,000 years ago. Someone is mixing up ice ages and glacial periods.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it doesn't matter because he is completely wrong. I have it on good authority that we have thousands of years of weather just like we enjoy now. No ice age. No global warming. The forecast is warm and sunny for years to come!
Study precession, the 26,000 year cycle caused by the tilt of our planet in relationship to the sun. If it was cold as hell 13,000 years ago and the glaciers melted out (mostly) 10,000 years ago, where are we on a 26,000 year cycle? Peak.
My guess is 20K of 26K is comfortably warm, 6K is ice age. Repeat. There is no credible scientific evidence to the contrary of this simple theory. A tilt causes a sine wave.
You are the one who is mixing things up. He's talking about a "LITTLE" Ice Age.

It is all about sunspot cycles.
If he is right, then Russia, Mongolia and Canada will ALL certainly have a BIG, big problem. Especially Russia. The Russians will have to exit Russia en masse and settle someplace south.
ReplyDeleteBut we only got until 2014 to wait, which is not long at all. So we shall see if he is right. I myself personalty doubt it. This winter was cold because the jet stream moved south, that's all. If the Gulf Stream stops working Europe will really have something to worry about tho.

ReplyDeleteThere are many people out there who back the idea that much of the Suns activity (20yrs upwards) is tidal from the relative positions of the larger planets.
