Israeli political writer Uri Avnery
How worrying the thought is that one of the “ignoramus” Republican candidates running for US presidency, except Ron Paul, may become the most powerful person in the world with a finger on the largest nuclear button, an Israeli political writer says.
While expressing concern over the “cheats and cynics”, Uri Avnery focused on the current front-runner in the US, Newt Gingrich, making reference to his controversial labeling of the Palestinians as “an invented people”.
According to Avnery, the argument of whether a Palestinian people existed or not has a long history since the "Zionist movement" has always conveniently denied their existence.
“The reason is obvious: if there exists a Palestinian people, then the country the Zionists were about to take over was not empty…The winning slogan was: A land without a people for a people without a land,” he says.
However, all this was set aside after Israel recognized the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) as representing the “Palestinian people”. Gingrich, once a history teacher, decided to bring the issue back to life.
Referring to a book written by Benedict Anderson with the title “Imagined Communities”, Avnery pointed out that all modern nations are “invented”, and fall under the explanations Gingrich provided in his recent remarks aimed at the Palestinians.
“It would certainly be ironic if the members of the 'invented' Palestinian nation were expected to ask for recognition from the members of the 'invented' Jewish/Israeli nation, at the demand of a member of the 'invented' American nation, a person who, by the way, is of mixed German, English, Scottish and Irish stock.”
Gingrich also called Palestinian textbooks used in schools “anti-Semitic”, an old issue put to rest after it was made known that Palestinian schoolbooks were cleared by Israeli occupation authorities, and “most were inherited from the previous Jordanian regime.”
The writer added that Israel has lately become the hotbed for racists across the world, and that “a pilgrimage to the Jewish State is now a must for any aspiring fascist.”
Ron Paul is not special -- look closer.
ReplyDeleteRon Paul is just another puppet. If elections worked, they would be outlawed.
Wake up.
Paul and the Austrians are after your wealth.
He doesn't understand taxes are wrong, just that he pays "too much."
He doesn't understand war is wrong, just that it is too costly.
War is a racket and taxes are simple extortion. A great nation can generate great wealth for all of its citizens.
Follow this man over the cliff at your peril. He isn't acting from ignorance -- he got sent the full package from perfecteconomy dot com.
We have no choice but to follow Ron Paul; he is the only anti-war politician in the race. We are heading for the cliff with these wars. Our middle class is being destroyed by a cost of living that isn't even calculated in macro-economics. So we are heading for the cliff anyway, but at least with Ron Paul we know what we are getting and we know we will get rid of the oppressive patriot act, the oppressive war on terror, war on drugs, war on the world at large. With Ron Paul the states will finally have the money to carry out the unfunded mandates of clean water, clean air, public education. Now we are about to lose all those things with state budget cuts.
ReplyDeleteI can't help it. I want to accept (believe?) that Ron Paul will be good for America but something stinks. When one looks at the pitiable collection of Republican candidates and the timing of Paul's peaking in the polls it just looks suspicious. Like a fool I too fell for the bare-faced lies of the Democrats and Obama and now am suffering a severe case of buyer's remorse. What we now have is worse than BushII and truthfully I see no hope for our dear country. It is owned and run by corporations and the Israeli lobby. The state owns our homes through eminent domain and now with this Defense Appropriation act they now own our bodies, our lives, and our hope for a future of peace, freedom, and prosperity. May God help us and may He deliver the world from this clutch of evil.
ReplyDeleteWow steve, don't they teach you trolls to be a little less obvious with your trolling? Take it down a notch if you want to fool people with your idiotic comments... Have a nice day! : )
